project feature: off shoulder crop top
I had great big plans to finish a blanket by the end of July for a gift, but I severely underestimated the amount of time it would take to work up in DK weight. And my ability to only work on that project without getting distracted by newer, shinier WIPs. So two weeks before my gift deadline, I decided to find an entirely new project to finish on an entirely shorter timeline.
I started looking through Ravelry for chunky projects that weren't entirely inappropriate for the oppressive summer heat before deciding I would have to find something lighter. I ended up settling on this cute little crop top by Sarah Knits Co. It's got simple lines, is light weight, and (surprisingly!!!) is a quick knit. Because my friends are great and don't mind me knitting while we're hanging out, I was able to get it done with time to spare!
I used Lion Brand's Jeans yarn in the colorway Vintage which looked absolutely grey in the store and definitely a steel blue in every other lighting possible. At first I was worried about how different it looked away from the florescent lights of my tiny underground, center-city Michael's, but I ended up loving the blue. The Jeans yarn is a dream to work with and I ordered about 12 skeins of it after finishing this project. I'm not sure what I'll do with it next, but it drapes beautifully and I can't wait to play around.
Over all, this was an incredibly pleasant and simple knit that managed to be exciting throughout and is a great option if you want to finish something quickly but still be excited about the finished project! I loved working on this project, it looks great on my sister (which I was worried about because like a fool I forgot to swatch).
